I am Israel Duani, 25 years old, a graduate of Ahuzat Sarah Boarding School During the 8 years that I was a trainee and two years in total where I was a boarding school instructor, I got to know all kinds of variations of personal work with a trainee on topics where he needed to improve I'm sure you've heard of at least one of the following names "Star Chart", "Behavior Tracker", "Motivation Chart", and maybe even the name Mimi.
All of these programs had advantages and disadvantages, when Yehuda Cohen (Deputy Director of Ahuzat Sarah Boarding School) and I thought of Mimi's idea we wanted to combine different aspects from different programs in order to create the perfect program . But that's not enough, we wanted to take it further, today we understand that we are in a technological world, and so are the children. so we realized that the program needs to be technologically in order to create a stronger connection between the program and children.
In MIMI's first years, Yehuda and I ran the app on Ahuzat Sara boarding school and even though that it was great success, we can definitely say that we learned a lot. How to give trainees more motivation to get better, how to maintain an existing state of improvement , giving positive reinforcement even on things the child is already good at, and more aspects on how to contribute to the children.
Children are amazing, and as much as you think they are doing well they can flourish and reach places you never imagined, so it is important to both strengthen them about the current state they are in and also give them the support and encouragement to move forward and flourish.
